Moderated by Museum of Science Research and Science Communication Assistants Amarjot Ranu and Kayla Vallecillo, and featuring: Featured PanelistsCharles Hua is the Founder and Executive Director of PowerLines. Previously, Charles has advised the U.S. Department of Energy on developing its grid modernization strategy, analyzed energy policy for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and advanced building electrification at Rewiring America. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Charles organized a campaign that successfully petitioned his school district to become the largest in the U.S. at the time with a 100% renewable energy commitment. For his work, Charles has been recognized by the White House as a 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholar, by the Aspen Institute as a Climate Leader, and as an Energy News Network 40 Under 40 honoree. Charles holds an A.B. in Statistics and Mathematics from Harvard College. Stwart is the co-founder and chief executive officer of MacroCycle, leading the commercialization of the technology, fundraising and operations of the venture. He studied at Cornell University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. After multiple years in industry, he earned his Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. Stwart’s goals are deeply rooted in climate tech, and he plans to use his experience and resources to one day democratize access to clean energy for individuals all over the world, especially those in his home country of the Dominican Republic. Caroline is the executive director and co-founder of Florida Community Innovation (FCI). FCI serves Floridians by empowering the next generation with skills to build high-quality tech and media products that move the needle on access to services and social issues. FCI focuses on computer science and public affairs majors, many of them first-generation college students who might not normally have access to professional opportunities like this. Their flagship project is the Florida Community Resource Map, which will connect Floridians to food banks, job resources, and more. For her PhD at University of Florida (UF), Caroline focuses on studying public engagement in climate mitigation.
