Established in 1864 by eminent surgeon and generous benefactor Dr. William Johnson Walker, a founder of the Boston Society of Natural History, the Walker Prize honors exceptional achievement in scientific research. This prestigious award recognizes “meritorious published scientific investigation and discovery” across any scientific field. Awarded annually by the Museum since 1967, it honors a scientist for exemplary research and for their outstanding ability to communicate that work to the public through the written word.
