From events and programs for High School students to internships we are committed to providing opportunities for youth to engage with STEM in new ways!

High School Science Series

Extend your curriculum beyond the classroom! Students will interact with local scientists and researchers and consider a world of STEM career possibilities while engaging in science and engineering practices.

Interested in Attending? Call Science Central at 617-723-2500 to make a reservation. We are available 7 days a week, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Exhibit hall admission is fully funded for these events. Bus funding is available for schools that qualify on a first come, first served basis. If you have questions about this year’s high school events, please email [email protected].

Hackathon

December 3, 2025 – 10:00-11:30am
Students will collaborate in pairs and work alongside experts in AI and computer science to tackle a proposed problem. Together they will creatively design and code an AI-powered solution. Please note that this opportunity is designed for students who already have some background knowledge of Python.

Investigate: Biology

February 11, 2026 – 10:00am-12:00pm
Explore the fascinating and diverse world of biology! Students will dive into the latest advancements in biological research and learn about how scientists are tackling global challenges to shape healthier communities.

Explore: Environmental Science

April 15, 2026 – 10:00am-12:00pm  
Join us for an engaging event focused on the urgent issue of climate change and its impact on our planet. Students will explore how science and technology are driving innovation, learn from experts in the field and discover how they can be a part of creating a more sustainable future.

MEDscience at the Museum of Science

We partner with the Harvard Medical School’s MEDscience Program to provide high school students with the opportunity to apply biology-based classroom learning to real-life immersive simulated medical emergencies, built around an interactive lifelike mannequin. This program runs on a semester basis.

Internship Programs

Our 7-week Summer Youth Internship program provides students, ages of 14–19, with an authentic work experience through a combination weekly professional development workshops and department specific projects.

Fenway Internship Program

During this partnership program, students from Fenway High School work alongside Museum educators to engage visitors on the exhibit floor, plan events for their peers and develop new activities. This program runs during the academic year.
