About the Speakers

Bryan Bryson

Associate Professor of Biological Engineering, MIT

Bryan Bryson is a scientist studying how the immune system fights tuberculosis, one of the world's deadliest infectious diseases. His research combines biology and technology to better understand infection and identify new ways to improve human health.

Yutian Li

Youth Advocate, Researcher, Student at Harvard University

Yutian Li is an award-winning youth advocate and researcher whose work focuses on the mental health and resilience of marginalized youth through community building and empowerment. She is a Harvard student studying Neuroscience and Government.

Mia Miyagi, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow, Brown University and Harvard University

Mia Miyagi is a researcher at the Center for Computational Molecular Biology at Brown and the GenderSci Lab at Harvard. Their work explores how sex, gender, and sexuality are defined and analyzed in biological research.

Christopher A. Schmitt, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Anthropology and Biology, Boston University; National Geographic Explorer

Christopher A. Schmitt uses behavioral ecology and genetics methods to study how wild non-human primates adapt to ecological extremes as a model for understanding our own evolutionary patterns as humans.

Boston Circus Guild

The Boston Circus Guild's mission is to create career opportunities for circus performers, artists and musicians of all backgrounds; to create a community of artists and foster the cross pollination of arts and ideas; to entertain, educate, and inspire our audiences; and to encourage people of all ages to engage with the circus arts.

The Femmes

The Femmes are an all-woman and non-binary wedding band specializing in songs by female and non-binary artists. When you’re at a Femmes show, you’re at a high energy concert experience. The Femmes have become one of Boston's top party bands, performing for the Museum of Science, the Human Rights Campaign, the Celtics Pride Night, the Southeast Alaska State Fair, First Night Boston, and have been featured on CBS News and the Boston Globe. Attend one of their highly popular Gay Prom events, and don’t miss their Pride Party every year!

Voices Rising

Voices Rising is a queer-based chorus of women, trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people. We were founded upon the feminist principles of community and belonging, activism and education. We sing together to give voice to celebrate the diverse LGBTQIA+ communities in and around Boston.

Front line disability rights organization.  empowering people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities develop the practical skills and self-confidence to take control over their lives and become active members of the communities.

Boston Dyke March

Since 1995, the Boston Dyke March has remained committed to offering an anti-capitalist, intersectional, and fundamentally grassroots alternative to Boston’s Pride celebrations. Our goal is to elevate voices marginalized in society and our lgbtq+ communities.

Community Resource Initiative (CRI)

Community Resource Initiative provides access and support through drug assistance, insurance support, prevention, and research; all to make Massachusetts a healthier place for every MA resident.

Covenant House Massachusetts

Covenant House is the largest, primarily privately funded charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking.

Harvard Lab for Developmental Studies

Harvard's Laboratory for Developmental Studies, a group of developmental labs in the Psychology Department at Harvard University, do studies with infants and children to understand how they perceive and reason about the world around them.

Massachusetts Asian Pacific Islanders for Health

An Asian LGBTQ+ youth organizations serving the Greater Boston area, specifically ages 15-24.

National Center for Race Amity

The National Center for Race Amity develops forums, workshops, service projects, films and other initiatives to advance cross-racial and cross-cultural friendship

oSTEM Inc.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM), Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional association for LGBTQ+ people and allies in the STEM community. With over 150 collegiate chapters at colleges/universities and professional chapters in cities across the United States and abroad, oSTEM is the largest chapter-based organization focused on LGBTQ+ people in STEM.

Our mission is to create long-term housing and provide support for LGBTQIA+ teens experiencing homelessness

Safe Homes

Safe Homes is a drop-in program for LGBT+ youth and allies ages 14-23, located in Worcester with lots of great, free resources and fun activities!

The Meeting Point

We are a collaborative of mental health providers and body workers that prioritizes  serving the queer, POC and disability communities. We believe that love is an action verb and social justice heals.

The Non-Conformists Orchestra

The Non-Conformists is the world’s only transgender/non-binary, LGBTQ+, minority-inclusive professional orchestra We invite talented musicians, composers and songwriters who have been historically underrepresented to join us in concert.

The Queer Neighborhood Council

The Queer Neighborhood Council is a trans-led, grassroots nonprofit committed to creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ folks can celebrate queer joy and creativity, while  empowering our members to take tangible action in their communities.

Trans Community of New England

The Trans Community of New England (TCNE) is a Boston area transgender support organization for the transgender community. TCNE has offered transgender social activities and support since the 1970s.
