DIY Fireworks in a Glass: Kitchen Science Demo

Did you know you can turn common kitchen ingredients into fireworks using food coloring? In this video, Alex Dainis shows us how oil, water, milk, and dish soap can turn food coloring into a vibrant Fourth of July display in your own kitchen! In her first experiment, when water-based food coloring is mixed with oil, it forms tiny droplets. When the oil and food coloring mixture is combined with water, the oil will float on top, but the food coloring will sink and spread out like fireworks. The second experiment involves combining milk with drops of food coloring, and then adding dish soap. This will cause the milk particles to move around, bringing the food coloring with them and creating bright bursts of color. Try these two DIYs for a fun kitchen holiday project!
