New Leadership Appointments Strengthen Museum’s Mission to Inspire a Lifelong Love of Science

BOSTON, MA – The Museum of Science announced today the appointment of Adam Koppel, MD, PhD, as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees along with the addition of two new Trustees and nine Advisors. These appointments further strengthen the Museum’s leadership and advance its mission – to inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone – and its vision of a world where science belongs to each of us, for the good of all of us.

Dr. Koppel is a Partner at Bain Capital Life Sciences and has served on the Museum of Science’s Board of Trustees for 7 years, stepping into the role of Chair succeeding Alexis Borisy. He also serves on the boards of Areteia Therapeutics, Cardurion Pharmaceuticals, Kailera Therapeutics, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and CJP Boston. Additionally, Dr. Koppel sits on the investment committees of the Museum of Science and the Society for Neuroscience, co-chairs the Harvard Medical School Discovery Council, and serves on the Mass General Brigham Innovation Growth Board.

“Making science accessible for everyone is an imperative that builds innovative thinkers, creates a multi-faceted workforce and supports our broader society.  As someone who has always believed in the power and importance of science education, I’m honored to step into the position of Chair of the Board at the Museum of Science, an institution that is both a regionally beloved destination and a global resource for science education, engagement and more,” said Dr. Adam Koppel. “I’m excited to partner with its outstanding leadership team to advance its mission and ensure that science continues to be a force for curiosity, inclusion, and progress.”

“The Museum is extremely fortunate to have Adam, who works on the cutting edge of life sciences, devote his time and talents to our efforts ensuring everyone can thrive in a world driven by science and technology,” said Tim Ritchie, Gwill York President of the Museum of Science. “Along with his knowledge and talents, he is a person who believes deeply in the power of science as a common good. We’re also grateful to our new Trustees and Advisors, each of whom brings their own invaluable perspective and commitment to advancing our mission.”

The Museum’s Board of Trustees and Advisors represent a wide range of backgrounds across science, business, and technology. Trustees provide strategic leadership and fiduciary oversight, while Advisors - leaders in their fields with a shared passion for science and education - offer critical guidance and support for the Museum’s programs and priorities.
