How to See Alpha Capricornids Meteor Shower - Up to 30 Meteors per Hour

Fireballs that crawl across the sky? 🌠 The Alpha Capricornids meteor shower is one of the year’s most unique celestial events. Peaking overnight from July 29 to July 30, 2025 this shower is known for producing rare, bright fireball meteors—slow-moving streaks of light that can appear to glide across the sky.

Unlike faster meteor showers, Alpha Capricornids meteors move slowly and often leave behind glowing trails, making them easier to spot and perfect for stargazing. The shower is active from mid-July into early August, but the peak is when you’re most likely to catch the best show. To see them, find a dark, open location away from city lights. Let your eyes adjust to the darkness for 20–30 minutes, then look up after midnight—especially toward the southern sky. No telescope needed—just your eyes and a bit of patience.
