Meet and Greet Volunteer


Meet and Greet volunteers are one of the first Museum representatives the public has contact with upon entering the building. A very important position, the Meet and Greets primary function is to be an instant, welcoming resource to our guests, thereby instilling a positive first indication of what guests can expect from their visit.

Meet and Greet volunteers must be knowledgeable enough to assist guests. Volunteers will greet visitors and be prepared to answer a variety of questions pertaining to directions, schedules and prices.


  • Welcome guests in a warm and friendly way
  • Direct guests to general exhibit areas and amenities
  • Answer questions about pricing, shows, times as well as where to go
  • Orient guests to the Museum schedule and signage
  • Help with proper entering/exit traffic and policies
  • Assist with basic Lobby operations; obtaining wheelchairs/scooters, strollers and assist with the storage of items that will not fit into a locker.
  • Answer general questions about local way finding

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enjoy meeting/speaking to public in large numbers
  • Maintain pleasant attitude
  • Confidence working with public
  • Customer service experience helpful but not required
  • Bilingual ability helpful but not necessary

Additional Details


We ask for a 4-6 month commitment; one 3.5 hour shift per week. Volunteer placements are available 7 days a week. Shift choices: Morning shift 9:30am-1:00pm or Afternoon shift 1-4:30pm.


  • Must participate in a New Volunteer Orientation session
  • Completion of three e-learning courses: Hazard Communication Basics, Accessibility & Fire Evacuation
  • Must attend Guest Service Orientation training or GSO
  • On-going training where appropriate provided by the Assistant Manager
