I will always remember 2016 at the Museum of Science as the year we opened the Yawkey Gallery on the Charles River, dedicated the founders statue of Brad and Barbara Washburn in our front plaza, and unveiled a transformed lobby and concourse to give our visitors an entrance experience equal to the educational experience in our Exhibit Halls.
But our most memorable moment was the celebration of the Bloomberg Philanthropies’ historic $50 million gift to the Museum this fall, and the creation of the William and Charlotte Bloomberg Science Education Center, that will stand as a turning point in the life of this institution. Gifts of this magnitude from friends like Mike Bloomberg are only possible when an institution like ours demonstrates a solid base of supporters, unwavering commitment to a vital mission, and visionary leadership from a strong board.
We simply could not undertake strategic facilities improvement projects, provide free and reduced admission to school groups, and offer great evening programs for adult museumgoers without gifts from generous members of our community, like you.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who supports our mission to transform the nation’s relationship with science and technology. If you have yet to make a gift to the Museum this year, please visit our secure online gift form. Your gift will help to ensure we get off to a great start in 2017!
I hope we see you again soon at the Museum of Science. With gratitude,
Senior Vice President, Advancement
