Teaching Time to Walk

: An Evening with Palaver Strings and Nate Tucker

Join Palaver Strings and musician and composer Nate Tucker, for an evening of reimagined classics and new compositions under the full dome of the Charles Hayden Planetarium!

Palaver Strings—a musician-led string ensemble and nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by young musicians in the Boston area—invites listeners to think about stability and flux, how we “go with the flow” and how we can disrupt it. This program features a collaborative new commission by percussionist, electronic musician, and composer Nate Tucker.

Palaver has performed at the Kennedy Center, Bay Chamber Concerts, the Hammond Concert Series, and a celebration of the Lullaby Project at Carnegie Hall, as well as other spots on both the nation's coasts. As a musician-led ensemble, Palaver is driven by collaborative processes, through which its co-artistic directors share musical and administrative leadership. While each member of the ensemble brings unique experiences to the table, they share a passion for taking classical music beyond the concert hall to engage with new and diverse audiences.

Tucker is a musician and composer at the Boston Center for the Arts. He works regularly with some of the area's finest artists and arts institutions. You can catch Nate Tucker performing with collective ensemble DanceNite, which consists of DJs, musicians, visual artists, and dancers. Tucker is also a core percussionist for Juventus New Music Ensemble and as an accompanist for improvisation and modern classes at the Boston Conservatory.
