Museum of Science Presents Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià
Boston— In the summer of 2011, elBulli, the world's most exclusive restaurant, closed its doors for good. On Saturday, February 15, 2014, visitors to the Museum of Science, Boston will experience the unusual tastes, textures, and untraditional high-tech appliances of elBulli in Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià.
The restaurant’s former head chef of 25 years, the world-famous Ferran Adrià, is the featured subject of Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià. Throughout the exhibit, visitors will explore how Adrià and his team have added a multi-sensory, magical dimension to the experience of eating — radically revolutionizing the way food is both created and consumed.
"We are thrilled to introduce our visitors to the gastronomic ingenuity of Chef Ferran Adrià,” said Paul Fontaine, Museum of Science vice president of education. “Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià highlights how combining ordinary tasks like cooking and eating with creativity and experimentation can lead to some of the most inspiring cuisine ever experienced. Along with the Museum’s other featured temporary exhibit, Our Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture, visitors can celebrate food, creativity, and cultures from around the world."
Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià features historical artifacts from the restaurant as well as images and videos that demonstrate elBulli’s transformation from a family-run restaurant to an innovative and bold institution complete the display. Visitors will have the opportunity to see Adrià’s books, unique dishware, and even clay models of his culinary brainstorms. A video simulation of an original 37-course meal being served to you is on display alongside a light box representing all 1,846 dishes Chef Adrià created.
Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià will be presented at the Museum of Science from February 15, 2014 through May 26, 2014. This exhibition is made possible by the Government of Catalonia, the Institut Ramon Llull, and Estrella Damm Barcelona. The exhibit is included with regular Exhibit Halls admission: $23 for adults, $21 for seniors (60+), and $20 for children (3-11).
