Visiting Tips for Members

Follow these tips to make the most of your visit to the Museum of Science!

Before Your Visit

  • Reserve add-on tickets in advance.  We recommend you reserve tickets to any add-on experiences—Omni, 4-D, and Planetarium shows—prior to your visit. These venues have very limited capacity to allow for safe social distancing and tickets are sold on a first-come first-served basis.  Members currently do not need to reserve tickets to enter the Exhibit Halls.

    • Reserve Omni and Planetarium tickets online, at mos.org. To reserve 4-D tickets online, you will first need to reserve Exhibit Halls timed tickets (free for members) at mos.org/visit/admission. You will be able to add tickets to a 4-D film during checkout at the member discounted rate of $5 per ticket.

    • Phone a membership expert at 617-589-0180 to reserve your tickets (Daily, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm).

  • Ensure your membership is valid. If necessary, renew online or over the phone before you arrive.

    • Renew your membership

    • Phone a membership expert at 617-589-0180 (Daily, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm).

    • Once you have renewed your membership, your order confirmation email will include a QR code which may be used as a temporary membership within 14 days of your renewal. Print it at home or display it on your mobile device at the entrance to the Exhibit Halls.

  • Paper bonus passes and coupons may be redeemed by phone or in person (we recommend reserving your tickets by phone to avoid disappointment if the show sells out before your visit).

  • Electronic bonus passes may be redeemed by phone or through our website by creating an online account. (What are electronic passes? See our Membership FAQ).

  • Set up your online account before you visit. This will allow you to update your membership information online, and apply member benefits to online orders.

    • Go to mos.org/my-account.

    • Enter your email address and create a password.

    • Fill in all required fields using the exact spelling of your name as it appears on your membership card, and click Yes, Merge Membership.

    • On the next screen, enter your membership number and click Add Membership.

  • Merge your membership if you already have an account. If you created an online account but did not merge it with your existing membership, send an email to membership@mos.org, or call 617-589-0180.

Parking and Getting Here

  • Check out Museum garage prices, hours, and special notices.. Bring your parking ticket inside the Museum for payment at the automated kiosks as you leave. Members receive a discount!

  • Occasionally, we may have to close the garage temporarily on very busy days until space becomes available. For safety reasons, cars cannot be permitted to wait in the driveway or on the highway. If you have passengers with special needs, you may drop them off at the main entrance to the Museum.

  • During school vacation weeks and other predictably busy times, we suggest taking public transportation. Visit our directions page to learn more. If you will be driving, we recommend arriving earlier or later in the day for the best parking availability.

  • Allow yourself sufficient time to park, pick up your tickets, and get to your show, as late entries are not permitted. If the Museum garage is full, public parking garages are located at the CambridgeSide Galleria mall or the TD Garden. However, membership discounts are only applicable in the Museum garage.

At the Museum

  • Your valid membership card allows you to go straight to the gate for entry (no need for timed tickets!) and gives you discounts in the Museum Store, café and parking at the Museum garage.

  • If you do not have your membership card you may pick up temporary proof of membership at the Box Office or call 617-589-0180 prior to your visit to have a temporary card emailed to you.

If you are using a temporary membership, stop by the Information Desk for a member discount parking ticket.
