ReRooted: Presented by The HairStory Project LIVE ENCORE!

Join us in the Mugar Omni Theater for a one-night-only LIVE encore screening of the groundbreaking production ReRooted: Presented by The HairStory Project, in collaboration with the Museum!

ReRooted is a multimodal virtual production providing context for the ongoing debate of natural hair and celebrating the roots of their African heritage. Take a journey with us through current beauty standards as we rethink the importance of hair as more than just a style for the Black and Latinx communities.

Featuring a live conversation and Q&A with co-creators Yvette Modestin and Ana Masacote and a preview of the #MyCrownSpeaks Initiative, the public art extension of the HairStory Project featuring Community Street Stories, a project that will document how hair in Black and brown communities transcends just being an accessory into an expression of culture and identity. This phase of the HairStory Project takes us into Egleston Square, Dorchester, and Cambridge in collaboration with local salons and barbershops.

Enjoy a reception with the creative team, with cash bar and complimentary light bites.

This project is curated by artists Yvette Modestin and Ana Masacote and made possible (in part) by a Live Arts Boston grant from the Boston Foundation.

This program is supported through the generosity of the Barbara and Malcolm L. Sherman Fund for Adult Programs.
