Deep Sea opens at the Museum of Science's Mugar Omni Theater, June 19
BOSTONImagine diving deep below the ocean's surface to swim alongside some of the world's most unusual aquatic animalsall without getting wet! This summer, moviegoers will venture where few have swum before when they are transported beneath the waves with Deep Sea when it opens at the Museum of Science's Mugar Omni Theater, June 19, 2009.
Shot in nine different locales, including the Sea of Cortez, and The Channel Islands, Deep Sea transports audiences to a myriad of locations around the globe deep below the vast oceanone of the least explored areas on earthto witness the rare and unusual creatures that call the ocean home. Here, these ocean dwelling inhabitants display their peculiar and amazing behaviors and show their reliance on one another for survival. The Mugar Omni Theater's 180-degree IMAX® domed-screen will surround viewers with a complete underwater experience bringing them face-to-face with a colorful cast of characters from the fearsome Humboldt squid to the unusual wolf eel and the graceful manta ray.
With never-before-seen footage, Deep Sea reveals the unique interactions of sea life in its natural habitat and the unusual relationships that exist between sea creatures. From the mantis shrimp putting on a fearsome show to reef fish nibbling algae off a sea turtle's shell audiences will experience what it takes to survive in the world under the waves. Deep Sea is a light-hearted, underwater adventure focused on celebrating and understanding the beautiful and inspiring underwater world and its colorful inhabitants.
Deep Sea is directed by world-renowned underwater cinematographer, Howard Hall, produced by Toni Myers and Michele Hall, executive produced by Graeme Ferguson and narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet with an original score by Danny Elfman.
