BOSTON Fall in New England means cooler weather, colorful foliage, and the arrival of thousands of college students! On Monday, September 10, from 4:00 - 10:00 p.m., new and returning college students will invade Science Park as they make their way to the eleventh annual College Night at the Museum of Science.
Sponsored by The Boston Globe, College Night 2007 welcomes students back to the city in style by offering free admission for a night of complimentary exhibits, laser shows, live programs, and more. This year, while touring the main Exhibit Halls, students can visit the Human Body Connection exhibit, which includes more than 75 interactive activities that explore human biology; catch a live presentation at the Gordon Current Science and Technology Center; and meet residents of the Museum's Live Animal Center. Students can rock out to dazzling laser shows set to popular music at the Charles Hayden Planetarium, while the 3-D Digital Cinema transports them to outer space where they can view amazing 3-D images of the Sun or underwater for an adventure with sharks.
In addition the Museum is proud to welcome Amber Madison, author of Hooking Up: A Girl's All-Out Guide to Sex and Sexuality, who will be engaging students in a candid discussion on how to maintain their sexual health and well being during their college careers. Amber will also host a question and answer session, and book signing following her presentation.
For those looking to relax during the festivities, refreshments are available for purchase in the Museum Café with food by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Music will be provided onsite by KISS 108.
One of the most popular student attractions, the Mugar Omni Theater which houses New England's only 180-degree IMAX® Dome, will be closed during College Night 2007 to undergo a major renovation of both technology and visitor amenities. Each student will receive two complimentary passes to experience the newly transformed theater when it reopens in mid-November.
Students must bring their valid college I.D for free admission. Timed tickets for special exhibits, films and presentations are first come, first served. For public transportation, students can take the Green Line/Lechmere train to the Science Park stop. Parking at the Museum garage will be validated. The Museum of Science is wheelchair accessible and the 3-D Theater and Charles Hayden Planetarium are equipped for the visually and hearing impaired.
