The Discoverers

Patrons of the Museum of Science

Unrestricted operating support represents the most critical type of funding for the Museum. We are therefore pleased to recognize the generous philanthropy of annual gifts of $2,500 or higher with a special range of opportunities designed to provide unique insights into the Museum's core activities.


All Discoverers receive the benefits equivalent to an Explorer Everest level membership package:

  • Membership cards admitting up to 8 people to the Exhibit Halls
  • 4 Omni, 4 Planetarium/Laser, and 4 Exhibit Halls guest passes
  • Discounted Butterfly Garden and 3-D Digital Cinema tickets
  • 2 hours of free parking per visit and 10% discount on additional hours
  • Discounts in the Museum's café and store, and also on educational programs
  • Invitations to members-only events
  • Invitations to exclusive behind-the-scenes tours at the Museum
  • Invitations to insiders gatherings to meet Museum experts
  • Invitations to the annual Science News Revue: The Year's Most Compelling, Bizarre, and Surprising Science and Technology Stories — a unique Museum event
  • Waived service charge on advance ticket purchases
  • Borrowing privileges in the Educator Resource Center and Lyman Library
  • A subscription to the Sparks! membership newsletter
  • Free admission to more than 260 science centers worldwide
  • Advance notification and registration for members-only Camp-Ins and the annual Halloween festivities
  • Advance opportunity to purchase tickets to the Volunteer Service League's July 4 rooftop event for members
  • Recognition in the Museum's annual donor report
  • An opportunity to join the Innovators — our network of philanthropic young professionals (up to age 45)
  • With additional benefits as listed below*

Bronze Level ($2,500 - $4,999)

Value of benefits: $108
All of the above, plus:

  • Recognition on the Discoverers Society wall plaque
  • Opportunity to purchases tickets for the Washburn Award and the Walker Prize
  • Invitations to selected events celebrating new shows or special exhibitions
  • Discoverers Concierge Service: providing assistance for all your Museum visits; this special service includes direct ticket bookings for up to 8 people and complimentary parking for one vehicle
  • Discoverer For A Day: an opportunity to designate a recipient to receive many of your Discoverer benefits for one day including complimentary Exhibit Halls admission and use of the concierge service.

Silver Level ($5,000 - $9,999)

Value of benefits: $108
All of the above, plus:

  • VIP receptions at selected Museum programs or lectures

Gold Level ($10,000 - $24,999)

Value of benefits: $108
All of the above, plus:

  • Learning Journey: an opportunity for the Discoverer and a small group of their guests to explore the latest initiatives, programs, or future plans with Museum experts during a private meeting or Museum tour.

Platinum Level ($25,000+)

Value of benefits: $108
All of the above, plus:

  • Day at the Museum: a full day of shows and activities arranged for you and your guests and tailored to your own unique requirements
