Communications Technician

I was a last minute addition to the ITASE expedition. My job is Communications Technician, and I will be working with the GOES satellite system. I have been coming to Antarctica since 1997. To date I have 6 seasons on the ice (:besides the summers, one winter and one spring) including one season on board the research vessel Nathaniel B. Palmer. I am just finishing up a 14 months stint, August '99 to December '00. This was my first winter over. As they say down here, "It wasn't my biggest mistake but it was my longest one." I loved doing a winter, I don't need to do it again, but it was incredible.

I hail from Aspen Colorado where previous to my Antarctic adventures I was heavily involved with the Mountain Rescue team for the last 17 years. Helping people and giving them a second chance to live is the most fulfilling thing that I have ever done in my life. I also have studied medicine, emergency first aid and technical rope rescue.
