Allen DelaneyAllen Delaney
Physical Science Technician
Fairbanks, Alaska

Allan joined ITASE for the first time during the 2001-2002 field season to assist with radar detection of crevasses, radar stratigraphy studies of snow and to participate as an Antarctic hand wherever needed.

He has supported science investigations in Alaska since 1970 by using electrical, electromagnetic and radar techniques to help interpret near-surface layering and measure electrical properties of earth materials including snow and ice.

The 2001 season is his seventh trip to Antarctica since 1993; previous projects have included radar profiling in support of geologic investigations in the dry valleys, mapping at old South Pole Station, crevasse detection with radar on the McMurdo Shear Zone and an aircraft recovery on the polar plateau.
