Description
Spend three days immersed in the Museum's STEM-rich environment working with like-minded educators to build your understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards.
Teachers will engage in several shared learning experiences designed to highlight the integration of the three dimensions of the new standards: practices, cross-cutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas. Collegial discussions will help participants make meaning of these standards and begin to imagine connections to their own curriculum and teaching practice. School-based teacher leaders engaged in the Museum's residency program will join in our discussions. Additionally, we will explore connections to the English Language Arts and Mathematics Common Core Standards.
Participants for this institute will be selected by a competitive application process. Interested teachers are encouraged to apply with a school or district colleague.
