Volunteer Services Assistant

Description

The Volunteer Services Assistant proactively provides general administrative assistance to Human Resources' Volunteer Services department while utilizing databases and reporting software on a daily basis and serving as a positive, welcoming Museum representative for all staff, volunteers and interns. This position also supports the volunteer recruitment process by managing all applications, maintaining an ongoing recruiting database, onboarding all new volunteers, processing background checks, and leading new volunteer and intern orientations. The Volunteer Services Assistant also sustains the efforts of special projects and events volunteers, ensuring all volunteers are fully engaged in the life of the Museum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily assistance to ~600-700 volunteers and help recruit and onboard ~250-300 new volunteers a year
  • Process ~350 criminal background checks for staff, volunteers and interns a year
  • Assist with the placement of more than 200 volunteers in ~50-70 special events a year

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post high school course work, technical degree, associate’s degree or business certificate preferred.
  • More than 1 year but less than 3 years of administrative experience.

    This position is full-time, 35 hours/week, Tuesday-Saturday.

    Salary

    Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
