Description

The position is integral to the strategic gatekeeping for the messaging component of the Museum brand in support of exhibits, venues, programs, and many other educational initiatives. Literally every department and division in the institution works with Marketing Communications, so this position requires institutional knowledge and a high degree of interpersonal skills that are vital to the working relationships between the staff and the internal clients.

Responsibilities

  • PRINT: Workflow exceeds 800 print projects a year, and involves contact with freelance editors and writers, and brand consultants. Annually, the print projects include--but are not limited to--6 issues of the membership newsletter (Sparks!); 3-4 Education catalogs and guides; the Museum map/guide daily programs; dozens of special event invitation packages; dozens of specialty brochures, newsletters, and flyers; and hundreds of internal marketing and event-specific signs, banners, and posters; and consultation with Advancement communications group on a variety of externally-produced products.
  • WEB: The Editorial Coordinator consults with IIT web development team to monitor and/or develop hundreds of web pages and/or sub-sites annually to retain common style on the Museum website, and to maintain a common resource for institutional (and text) information. There are approximately 1,200 web and sub-site pages, with an anticipated 10 -- 15 new offering and 10 non-offering segments needing attention every month. The Museum of Science site receives approximately 4 million web visits annually.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree preferred.
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience.

Work Schedule

This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.

Salary

Exempt (Salaried). Commensurate with experience.
