Dr. William Waller
Tufts University
Bill Waller is a Research Associate Professor
of Astronomy at Tufts University. His research spans the fields of
stellar, galactic, and extragalactic astronomy -- with special emphasis
on the birth of stars, the form and function of the interstellar medium,
and the lives of galaxies over cosmic time. He has been engaged in
astronomy education and public outreach since 1978, when he worked
as a science writer and public information specialist for the Harvard-Smithsonian
Center for Astrophysics, just prior to pursuing a Ph.D. in Astronomy
at the University of Massachusetts.
In Spring 2003, Bill co-authored
a popular-level book with Paul Hodge of the University of Washington
entitled Galaxies
and the Cosmic Frontier, available from Harvard University Press.
A co-founder
of NESSIE, Bill serves as its Liaison to Space Scientists and College
Educators. |
