Dr. William Waller
Tufts University

Bill Waller is a Research Associate Professor of Astronomy at Tufts University. His research spans the fields of stellar, galactic, and extragalactic astronomy -- with special emphasis on the birth of stars, the form and function of the interstellar medium, and the lives of galaxies over cosmic time. He has been engaged in astronomy education and public outreach since 1978, when he worked as a science writer and public information specialist for the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, just prior to pursuing a Ph.D. in Astronomy at the University of Massachusetts.

In Spring 2003, Bill co-authored a popular-level book with Paul Hodge of the University of Washington entitled Galaxies and the Cosmic Frontier, available from Harvard University Press.

A co-founder of NESSIE, Bill serves as its Liaison to Space Scientists and College Educators.
