Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe Marathon
Santa Monica College's eclectic and unique radio station, KCRW, rang in the 2003 New Year with 12 episodes of Douglas Adams' beloved sci-fi humor classic, Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. All 12 episodes have been archived for your sci-fi listening pleasure available to listen anytime you like!
Slacker Astronomy ~ Because if you aren't going to care about something, you may as well not care about astronomy.
Join Slacker Astronomists Pamela Gay and Travis Searle each week for a five-ten minute podcast covering a recent news item in astronomy. Pamela has a PhD in Astronomy and works at the Harvard Science Center; Travis has a BA in Broadcast Journalism and works at the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO). They both are certifiably nuts (their words).
Most Popular Myths in Science
Is the Great Wall of China the only manmade structure visible from space? Does it really take seven years to digest gum? Visit Live Science's Most Popular Myths in Science section to help hone your cocktail party conversation skills.
Bad Astronomy
Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy website works to debunk common myths and assumptions about astronomy and space science that Hollywood and other fantasy manufacturers have woven into our everyday lives. Plait sets the record straight on such misconceptions as the Apollo moon hoax, Richard Hoagland's face on mars claim, and whether you can stand an egg on end during the vernal equinox.
Bad Science
As the site states, is it maintained by Alistair B. Fraser "in an attempt to sensitize teachers and students to examples of the bad science often taught in schools, universities, and offered in popular articles and even textbooks."
The Worlds of David Darling
Large on-line collection of information on astronomy, astrobiology, spaceflight, physics, and other areas of science and mathematics, both conventional and speculative (teleportation, time travel, etc) developed and updated daily by author and astronomer David Darling.
