Dr. Cary Sneider
MoS
Dr. Cary I. Sneider is Vice President for
Programs at the Museum of Science in Boston. Dr. Sneider’s research
and development interests have focused on helping students unravel
their misconceptions in science, and on new ways to link science centers
and schools to promote student inquiry. He is currently Principal
Investigator of the New England Space Science Initiative in Education
(NESSIE) with support from NASA, and of Predicting the Future: The
Science and Technology of Weather Forecasting, which is funded by
the National Science Foundation.
Dr. Sneider's publications include teachers’
guides for the elementary, middle, and high school levels, articles
about the instructional uses of computers, and research studies on
how children acquire concepts and skills in science. He helped to
develop the National Science Education Standards (National Academy
Press, 1996) and contributed to Designing Professional Development
Programs for Teachers of Mathematics and Science (Corwin Press, 1998).
In 1997 he received the Distinguished Informal Science Education award
from the National Science Teacher’s Association. |
