Summer Computer Clubhouse Mentor Internship
Description
The Clubhouse is an after-school learning environment where young people explore their own interests and become confident learners thorough the use of technology. Mentors are a key part of the Clubhouse community, supporting the learning and exploration of clubhouse members. Mentors provide assistance, support and encouragement to Clubhouse Members.
Responsibilities
- Orient, welcome, and guide new members
- Help to identify members that might need extra support or encouragement
- Organize special projects (based on interest)
- Support members in thinking about career/college opportunities
- Bring any serious concerns/issues to the attention of the Clubhouse Manager
- Provide assistance as needed, especially one-on-one support for members during projects & activities
- Engage in your own learning and exploration
Minimum Qualifications
- Interest in the Clubhouse philosophy
- Experience/ and or interest in working with young people
- Technical/ and or art skills OR commitment to developing skills
- Curiosity and interest in learning more about technology, working with young people, and being part of the Clubhouse Community
- Open to new people and ideas
Additional Details
Hours / Days Per Week
Number of Hours: 7 hours/week, 2 - 5:30pm weekdays, Fridays 2-8pm, Saturdays 10am-4pm. (ideally 2 days/week). Applicants interested in Girls' Day would need to intern on Mondays.
