A Day in Pompeii

Temporary Exhibit [Return to listing page]

Sunday, October 02, 2011 - Sunday, February 12, 2012

Get a glimpse of daily life in Pompeii, one of Imperial Rome's most cosmopolitan cities. Hundreds of artifacts — including body casts of the volcano's victims — bring to light the vibrancy of this bustling resort town, but the darkening skies ahead and violent sounds of Vesuvius spewing ash and debris signal imminent danger.

Tickets: On sale June 7 for groups and schools, August 24 for the general public.

Advance purchase highly recommended.

A Day in Pompeii will be open late on January 25 and February 1. Regular admission rates apply and advance registration is highly recommended. Last entry time is at 6:00 p.m. Stop by for a quick visit after work, or explore the ancient city before attending one of our lectures: Volcanoes on the Verge (January 25 at 7:00 p.m.) and Extreme Weather (February 1 at 7:00 p.m.).

Presented in partnership with Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Napoli e Pompei.
