Blindspot: The Hidden Biases of Good People

Lecture [Return to listing page]
Museum of Science
With Mahzarin R. Banaji, PhD, Richard Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics at Harvard University and co-founder of Project Implicit. This presentation is part of the ongoing series The Changing Faces of America.

The human mind has evolved over millennia and works in ways that we cannot easily see. Is it possible to be biased and not know it? Is it possible to act in the very ways that would offend our conscious values? Mahzarin Banaji, co-developer of the Implicit Association Test, studies how unconscious mental processes shape our assessments of ourselves and others. Banaji takes us on an interactive exploration of our unconscious minds.

Advance registration for members begins March 9. Registration for the general public begins March 16. A limited number of passes will be available in the lobby on the day of the event.
