Summer Institute, Wednesday, July 22 - Friday, July 24 and Monday, July 27 - Tuesday, July 28
Fall follow-up, to be determined during the institute

This institute provides the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and deliver a technology / engineering course that meets the Massachusetts Framework. The course demonstrates laboratory activities for teaching technology / engineering standards. By the end of the institute, participants will have collaboratively designed a course syllabus and units, employing a student outcome-based approach to design. Teachers learn technology/engineering content and approaches for design-based curricula that integrates science and mathematics through engineering.

Participants must attend the entire program of the selected institute, including follow up. Each institute provides approximately 45 hours of instruction as well as approximately 15 additional hours between September, 2009 and January, 2010. Preference will be given to educators from high-need districts.

In-District Sessions

Customized professional development opportunities are available in half-day, full-day, or multiple-day sessions. Contact us for pricing.

Attend a workshop at your school or other chosen location, hosted by education experts from the Museum's National Center for Technological Literacy. Find out how to help your students work cooperatively to innovate, create, and integrate interdisciplinary learning. Learn how to capture students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by letting them apply their knowledge creatively to solve real-world problems.

Activities are drawn from the Engineering the Future course. Participants use the engineering design process themselves to solve problems that require the application and integration of STEM concepts.
