SLAM Workshop

Saturday, May 12, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Science is often overlooked at the elementary grade levels due to time constraints and resources diverted to developing reading and mathematics skills. This workshop showcases activities that can be used to deliver inquiry-based science content through the language arts. We lead participants on a language arts journey through different exhibits, highlighting methods to infuse reading, writing, and speaking lessons with STEM content.

A brief discussion on planning effective field trips addresses creative ways to design a student visit. Our staff also provides an overview of the services and programs available in the Educator Resource Center in the Lyman Library, emphasizing support for teachers as learners.
