Exploring Biodiversity: The Search for New Medicines
December 3, 2009
Bonnie Bassler from Princeton University and Baldomero Olivera from the University of Utah present the 2009 Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Holiday Lectures on Science, streaming live to the Museum of Science. This year's topics include biodiversity and how researchers derive medicines and compounds from nature.
The first lecture, which is more general in nature, takes place in Cahners Theater and is recommended for entry-level classes. School groups looking for more advanced content are welcome to drop in on one of the Museum's classrooms to watch additional lectures streaming live. Students are also invited to participate in hands-on activities in the Suit / Cabot Lab.
Funding provided by Pfizer; open to all high school groups.
