Comments:

This earth science textbook is well-organized, content rich and graphically appealing. The activities are clear, friendly for both students and teachers, and they are strong in curriculum relevancy. Though this text is not based in open-ended inquiry learning, the Holt Earth Science text is further along the inquiry spectrum than comparable texts. While the text is not intended to be an engineering curriculum, current examples of earth science technology act as references to technology. Instructors should realize, however, that the lack of open-ended and full-scale design activities allows little opportunity for student-driven inquiry into technology and engineering.Student assessment pieces include a variety of question formats, and the text includes a standardized test section in each chapter.
